Direct to Film is a method that rivals Direct to Garment printing and allows users to print their logos and/or artwork onto a special type of coated PET film. This film is then used to transfer the printed image onto textile using lightweight powder adhesive that can be applied manually or by using an automatic power shaker to distribute the adhesive evenly across the artwork and film, and with this added step, the transfer process is made possible.
Following the directions to transfer your printed image:
- Set heat press temperature to 325F
- Place shirt in the heat press.
- Position the film transfer that has the powder adhesive onto the garment. Use silicone sheet or parchment paper to cover the transfer and shirt and press for 15 seconds at medium pressure. Remove, let cool then peel.
- If you prefer a softer feel to the transferred image, simply place the shirt back in the heat press with the silicone or parchment paper sheet on top and press for an additional 5 seconds at 325F.
- The transferred shirt is good for 40 to 50 washings.
